Breeze Airways is set to significantly expand its services across two major US airports, adding 11 new nonstop routes from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) and introducing new destinations from Leahy Burlington International Airport in Vermont. These developments are poised to establish the budget airline as the dominant carrier at Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Expansion
The airline announced 11 new nonstop flights from Myrtle Beach International Airport, scheduled to launch in 2027. These new routes will make Breeze Airways the airport’s largest carrier, serving a total of 25 nonstop destinations from MYR, according to WMBF. This expansion comes after Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May 2026, a move that followed a decline in Spirit’s share of total capacity at MYR to around 23% in 2025.
Judi Olmstead, Director of Airports at Myrtle Beach International Airport, stated that the new routes target “high-demand markets” and some of the “most requested cities” by travellers. Dana Shapir Alviene, Breeze Airways Chief Guest Officer, highlighted the airline’s rapid growth at MYR, noting that Breeze arrived with just one destination in February 2024 and has since more than doubled its seats and flights. Promotional one-way fares for these new services will start from $49, with validity for travel through 7th September 2027, as reported by WPDE.
Ryan Betcher, a spokesperson for MYR, explained that the airport has actively worked over several years to diversify its carriers post-pandemic, aiming to reduce an over-reliance on any single airline.
Burlington Airport Developments
From Leahy Burlington International Airport, Breeze Airways is introducing new destinations, including Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, with a ‘BreezeThru’ connection to Fort Lauderdale. These new services are scheduled to begin at the end of May next year, as reported by WCAX. Breeze Airways established its presence in Burlington following JetBlue’s departure in January 2024, which ended that airline’s regular service to New York City.
Nick Longo, Burlington’s Director of Aviation, explained that the new flights are designed to meet local demand, with the airport observing significant daily interest for the Myrtle Beach route. The airport anticipates beating last year’s record-breaking fall foliage season, which saw over 160,000 passengers in a single month. Looking ahead, the airport is also teasing an announcement before the end of October regarding a new international, warm-weather destination. While many Breeze flights offer limited service, typically operating two days a week, and some destinations like Houston are seasonal, the airport notes that increased traveller numbers will lead to more opportunities for expanded services and nonstop options. The focus on expanding air travel options globally is a trend seen across the industry, similar to how projects like the NES Radar Project explore innovative ways to track flights.
